Irritants & Bugs : The Real Pakistan being unveiled
After the intial euphoria of hailing Pakistan's role as a 'Front Line Ally', American press is beginning to look beyond Musharaff's great U Turn on Taliban and his support for US war on Terrorism, and are coming to the right conclusions at last. Today's The New York Times editorial names Pakistan as 'a troubled Ally' and cuts some real truth into its editorial with mentioning of Pakistani support for Kashmiri Terrorists (yes, NYT terms them as terrorists, not 'militants') and its proxy war maliciousness in Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan's own nuclear weapons are thought to be under General Musharraf's control, but in a country whose history has been scarred by repeated military coups, that is not totally reassuring. Democracy remains a distant mirage. Some real punching power there. Calling spade a spade is atlast catching up with the Media after decades and decades of 'Political Correctness'.
