What does a neophyte who has just discovered the web do?
He would sign up with every free E-mail provider encountered, create a multiple accounts with every site that offers webspace or blog hosting and so on.. What happens when an organisation 'discovers' about virtual servers, sub-domains and other TLDs?

Those at IIPM have laboured and worked themselves into a domain registering, cum website proliferating frenzy! Yet another example of megalomaniac tendency of IIPM to over-state facts and exaggerate to the point of nausea!

Armed with a dirt cheap reseller accounts at technolozy.com (yes, its Hinglish!) and thewebhostingpeople.com running on a windoze IIS 6.0 box, Arundam Chaudauri's fantastic web-mastering team has worked overtime to come up with dozens of sites with almost nil or redundant content, each cross linking each other in a quest to get high page ranks on google - Google spamming at its best! [Puneet had reported on IIPM's google spamming in his Oct. 14 Article together with screenshots and under the hood examinations]

The motive behind this might be to flood google with IIPM friendly sites, or it might be a novel way of damage control - Google's listings for IIPM key word is filled with links to the Blogosphere commenting on IIPM-Sabnis/Rashmi Legal threats fiasco - that the *clever* management at IIPM could have brainstormed a plan to equally drench the net with sites extolling the Institute's virtual virtues!

Thus they have a series of sub-domains of the following pattern, 'www.newsx.iipm.edu' where x is a number... these sub-domain sites host a piece of PR advertorials IIPM has managed to book in various periodicals and dailies.

For the record, as of today, here is a list of IIPM sprawn sites:

  1. www.iipm.edu

  2. www.iipm.us

  3. www.chennai.iipm.edu

I have not done any maintainance on this site for a long time and yesterday, at about 1650 IST, the MySQL database came under a vicious attack from hackers and lasted a good four hours.

Thankfully, the site withstood the attack, and I was panicking with patches and revamps.

The attacks subsided and I was left with a deluge of log files to ponder over... meanwhile, I rolled up my sleeves and dug right in into bring the site upto date vis-a-vis security as well as usability.

Much under the hood enhancements are inside and I hope they would make your visit and stay much more welcome and pleasant.

Leave comments on the new design...

Host,
Jagan.

Seems like the Indymedia, aka Nazimedia is poised for a meltdown A notice (since25 Dec) on the frontpage of the Main website, http://www.indymedia.org says:

At short notice, Indymedia has had to change web hosting providers and replace crucial computer hardware, and needs funds to cover hardware costs, shipping and other expenses. Please donate to imc-tech to keep your servers running. We are asking anyone who can to make a donation of $5. With a positive response from the large numbers of Indymedia organizers, contributors, readers and sympathizers, we hope to raise the funds necessary to cover the various expenses. If you have more resources, we encourage you to donate whatever you can: $25, $50, $100, $500, $10,000...

The 25 December date makes me wonder if this is not geared towards the last minute Christmas donators who suddenly remembered that they haven't given neither tilthe nor a penny in charity... but in all seriousness, Indymedia is in trouble.. which this time might end in its demise.

But I am sad..

Sorry at nazimedia's slow demise.

I say 'Come back nazimedia! Thou art like the flypaper that attracts all the pinkos, the society outcasts and misfits, the Jerks, leftists, commies of all shades and hues, islamists, jehadi apologetics, self-hating jews/hindus, dhimmis of all sorts.... and provided them with a place they can call their own.

Now, that you are gone, I don't want that whole swarm of flies buzzing all over the net looking for a place for their mating dance.

Please nazimedia. Don't go down. We need you like we need the gutter. Or else the stink and stench would be too much to bear elsewhere!'

*sobs*

Once again, again and again, President Gen. Musharaff of Pakistan is howling at India and threatening an attack with nuclear bombs on India unless India stops assertaining itself. Musharaff obviously wants India out of Afghanistan. In an interview to Toronto Star, He said "They (Indians) should never presume that they can do things and they can go unchecked" and added that a full fledged (read nuclear) conflict is never a remote possibility, but a very real scenario. He unbashedly flouted Pakistan's capability by saying 'They (India) must know that we can retaliate in a big way'

Boo Boo Musharaff.. we are dead scared!

While President of Finnish Parliament, P Lopponen, leading a Delegation to India, said that India's Claim for a permanent seat in the UN Security Council was'absolutely legitimate', Pakistan reiteriated its prejudiced stand that India should not be allowed to gain Veto power
Else where, taking into concern India's protest and indignation at Sri Lanka's failure to Inform India about the visit of a Senior Pakistani General, President Chandrika did the right thing: She refused to meet Mohammed Aziz Khan, second in hierarchy only to Gen.Musharaff.

MSNBC: US offers Pakistan aid as it seeks help in Iraq

President George W. Bush's $87 billion war budget includes debt relief and other assistance for Pakistan, a key ally in the war on terrorism which is under U.S. pressure to send troops to Iraq, according to budget documents released on Wednesday.

Carrots galore for Pakistan
American war in Iraq is proving costly for US not just in terms of money- a whopping 87 Billion!- enough to eradicate Polio from the Globe, but also in terms of Self-respect. It is a pity that Bush should beg..er.. woo Pakistan, a rabid Islamic Fundamentalist Country which lingers at the brink of economic collapse, saved only by generous US aid, for a few measy number of troops!
France and Germany are inwardly rejoicing as US is getting desperate to solve the Iraq fiasco it has so well and adamantly managed to get into.
